Autumn Assembly

A U T U M N – H A R V E S T   A S S E M B L Y

Our Autumn Assembly took place this week and parents were invited to come and join the children  singing autumn songs and watch  an autumn themed performance.

We also collected tinned, dried or packet foods, toiletries and  even loos rolls, nappies and  washing up liquid for the Thornbury Food Bank.

Hot Chocolate with the Head

Every Friday afternoon children who go ‘over and above’ every day that week are chosen to have a chat and share a cup of hot chocolate in the Head’s office. It’s a lovely end to the week and a great way for Mrs Carter to get to know everybody.

Goodbye Mrs Cave

We said farewell to Mrs Cave today who is retiring after almost 23 years working at Gillingstool.  We wish her well in her retirement and hope that she will come and see us on a regular basis.

New Outdoor benches

New outdoor benches have appeared around the school.  These have been purchased by the Young Enterprise club with proceedings from their many events throughout the year.  Friends of Gillingstool provided the paint and additional help with construction.  The all look very colourful.  Thanks to Mrs Payne, Mrs Cave and Ms. Roper for all their hard work with the Young Enterprise Club.

Visit to Eden Camp

At Eden Camp the children experienced the sights, sounds and smells of life on the Home Front and the Front Line, all set in the buildings and grounds of an original World War 2 Prisoner of War Camp.

Pirates of the Curry Bean

Anchors away for swashbuckling pirate adventure on the high seas in this piratical musical that’s sure to shake your booty! Young twins Jack & Liza Periwinkle yearn for adventure, so imagine their joy at discovering a real life treasure map! But when the infamous Redbeard and his pungent Pirates of the Curry Bean steal the map and kidnap their mother, the race is on to rescue her, reclaim the map and find the treasure!  A brilliant performance by Year 6 assisted by the massed singing voices of Year 5.  Thanks to all the staff for their hard work behind the scenes.
